Mental health is an integral part of who we are and how we move through life. And relationships are an integral part of our mental health. The relationships we have with ourselves, with one another and with the world around us fundamentally shape our wellbeing at every level.
I am passionate about supporting people to come to know themselves more deeply, to make sense of their experiences and how they show up in the world, to embrace their full wellness, and in doing so, dare to live to their full potential.
I am here to help you discover, or rediscover, how to feel your best and in turn share your best self with the world! You and the world deserve nothing less, so let's get started...
Get yourself a cup of something cosy, have a look around, and if you like what you see please do get in touch.
And in a previous life I was also a mental health social worker.
My professional experience includes working with trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, fertility and relationship difficulties. I draw on the knowledge and experience gained from almost twenty years of professional practice, ongoing training and my own lived experience to inform all my offerings.
Should you choose to connect with me, I will meet you where you are at, bringing to the work an awareness of the interconnection between our external, social, political & environmental world, our internal, intimate, inner world and the many relationships that bind the two.
Harnessing the power of the mind-body-spirit connection, I embrace a holistic understanding of wellness. I centre compassion, curiosity, courage, collaboration and authenticity in my work. I am particularly interested in the power of personal responsibility, compassion, and the role our nervous systems play in our experience of health and relationships.
With you, I will co-create a safe, warm and meaningful relationship within which the brightest and darkest of experiences can be held, and from which your own unique wisdom can emerge.
I am privileged to work with people from all walks of life.
No matter who you are or what your story is, please know you are safe and welcome to connect with me.
Experience, research, intuition and common sense continue to inform us that our wellbeing is made up of several core components, including our mental health, physical health, social health, the quality of our sleep and the food we eat.
And of course, wellness is not just limited to these core areas of our lives. For many of us our wellbeing is connected to our faith or spirituality, our relationship with nature, being creative for the sake of creativity, journaling, reading, music, etc.
My point of entry into this conversation is mental health and relationships, but I believe in order to really understand any aspect of our wellbeing we must pay attention to all aspects of it because they are all so inextricably connected. And in order to thrive, not just survive, we must give ourselves permission to attend to all parts of ourselves, and all parts of our wellbeing.
In this fast-moving world where we are expected to be hyper-productive, available to other people almost non-stop and have lives that constantly look picture perfect, giving ourselves permission to use our precious time and energy to feel all our feelings and to pour into the things that actually nourish us, is a central part of our everyday wellness.
It is my experience that whether we are facing a crisis or struggling with chronic mental, emotional, physical, or even spiritual challenges, it is so often the seemingly "small" things we do in our daily lives that can have a huge impact on our overall wellbeing.
As someone who used to view routine as boring and uninspired, I learned the hard way (hello burnout!) to come to respect, value and dare I say it, enjoy having routine made up of intentional, healthy habits and wellness moments in my life. My ability to maintain these healthy, daily habits that impact my experience of wellness every day, or everyday wellness as I call it, certainly ebb and flow over time, as my life moves through more or less challenging times. But what I know to be true from my own life and from working with so many people over the years, is that spending time discovering what makes us feel loved, cared for, nurtured and joyful, and then giving attention to those very things that support us to feel well every day, is an essential component to living a healthy, purposeful life. Some of these things are common e.g. sleep, and some of these things are deeply personal e.g. spirituality.
I am passionate about supporting people to connect with and discover their own everyday wellness so they may experience moments of wellbeing every day, even during those harder times when it may feel like any sense of wellbeing is beyond their reach.
My interest in wellbeing is anchored in mental health and relationships but it extends far beyond that, and I am excited to continue to grow and embrace other aspects of wellness in my personal and professional life.
